Itinerary note: important to book restaurants well in advance to avoid disappointment

Day 1

  • Arrive Cape Town International

  • Hire car from airport

  • Drive > Camps Bay (30 minutes)

  • Check-in to Airbnb near here (3 nights)

  • Walk down to the beach and explore Camps Bay: Glen Beach on the north-side is more sheltered and usually a little quieter

  • Drinks at Chinchilla Rooftop Cafe & Bar

  • Dinner at Paranga: a modern bar and restaurant with a beach view terrace serving sushi and excellent steak

Day 2

  • Early morning hike up table mountain — route options

  • Brunch at Nourish’d: a health cafe and juice bar

  • Get pampered at The Amani Spa, Radisson Blu: book treatments in advance

  • Afternoon on Clifton 4 Beach

  • Sundowners and dinner at The Bungalow: A contemporary hot-spot with exceptional seafood — book well in advance and request a table at the front of restaurant to watch the sunset

  • If you want to continue the evening, walk back along Camps Bay and drop into Cafe Caprice: it can get very lively, especially on Sundays

Day 3

Day 4

  • Drive > Stellenbosch (1 hour)

  • Stop off en route for Lunch at Rust en Vrede: a beautiful vineyard offering a two-option menu for lunch (12–3pm) to accompany their wines. You can’t book so turn up at 12 noon to avoid disappointment

  • Check-in to Airbnb near here (3 nights)

  • Coffee at Bootlegger

  • Dinner at Tokara: fantastic food in an idyllic location — essential to get there in time to watch the sunset

Day 5

  • Drive > Babylonstoren to explore grounds (20 minutes)

  • Lunch at Babel, Babylonstoren: beforehand, explore the beautiful gardens and grab a drink at The Greenhouse and/or go wine tasting

  • Drive > Stellenbosch

  • Walk Kirk Street and explore university buildings

  • Utilise gym and 50m swimming pool at Maties Gym

Day 6

  • Drive > Franschhoek

  • Coffee at The Hoek

  • Walk high street, visiting Everard Read Gallery

  • Lunch at La Petite Ferme: quality food in a truly beautiful setting

  • Dinner at The Delaire Graff Estate Restaurant: contemporary fine dining experience with excellent food

Day 7

  • Drive > Hermanus (1.5 hours) via:

  • Coffee at Vergelegen Wine Estate: stroll through the stunning gardens

  • Lunch at Idiom: beautiful location with views across Cape town, serves exquisite food — a must

  • Check-in to Airbnb near here (4 nights)

  • Beach picnic & sundowners on Langbaai Beach

Day 8

  • Walk from Grotto to Old Harbour via coastal trail (2 hours)

  • Lunch at Bietang’s Cave: superb seafood restaurant, try the calamari and prawns — book a table on the terrace

  • Taxi back from town for an afternoon on Kammabaai Beach

  • Taxi > Harbour Rock for sundowners and dinner

  • Drive > Cape Town airport: use the coastal route but leave plenty of time to enjoy the views
